Happy Harvest!

Well, the Qingming Festival has happened in China, and along with honoring ancestors, it is a celebration of spring and the beginning of the tea harvest. Very soon I'll be making my spring tea order, so if there are out of stock Chinese teas that you are craving, they should be back in stock soon.

Some Japanese teas have already been restocked, including a new single-cultivar (not yabukita!) sencha and my delicious Dento Hon Gyokuro, which has unfortunately gone up significantly in price.

This also means that I have some older tea that is entirely drinkable but is now discounted to buy (check the "SALE" tag on the website) and a pouch of which will get added to any order over $50 while supplies last.

Come peruse the shop and drink some tea!

Sally Jaffee teaware up on the website!

And will be available at the Nevada Tea Festival

I'm very excited to have teacups by Sally Jaffee for sale through Leaves of Cha. I use my "Geisha" cup all the time and think you will love them too. I've got seven of her designs in stock today on the website and also will be displaying and selling them at the Nevada Tea Festival.

Sally's Artist Statement:

"My life as a potter began in the early seventies when many of us were privileged to make career choices from our hearts. We were the generation that prided ourselves on having less in the way of possessions, and more in the way of a spiritual consciousness. So I followed my bliss, and was fortunate to be given the talent for making things. I chose clay as my expression and worked for many years in Seattle at Pottery Northwest, a pottery co-op. Now over fifty years later, I reside in Mt Shasta, CA with the same enthusiasm for clay that I started with so many years ago."

About the process:

"The images on my vessels have been individually etched through layers of black and white slips on white stoneware, then coated with a satin clear glaze.
Both the clear and red glazes have been single fired to a mid-range temperature for strength and durability. All of the pieces are food safe, as well as dishwasher safe; though I don't recommend the microwave.
"

Leaves of Cha will be at the Nevada Tea Festival again this year!

Please come see me and all the other great vendors if you are in the area
Please spread the word if you are in the Tahoe area or know tea people that are.

Order fulfillment will be delayed during that period
Sorry for the late notice but if you get your order in today or tomorrow and maybe Thursday, I'll get it out before I leave.
